Email Marketing Specialist

Position Summary

The E-mail Marketing Specialist provides day-to-day ownership over and coordination of email marketing campaign process.  Implements, optimizes and assists in the development of digital marketing campaigns across various digital channels (coordinating with internal and external parties as necessary). Monitors and assists in reporting campaign metrics to present analysis and results.  Based on actual findings, makes active recommendations and/or takes action to improve performance.


  • Lead development of HTML implementation of customer-facing email and other digital marketing campaigns
  • Build, QA and deliver fully adaptive html email campaigns that work across major email clients and devices.
  • Develop and implement the development of customer trigger event campaigns and scheduled campaigns
  • Work closely with copy-writers and product marketing teams for marketing strategies
  • Coordinate and project manage all details of email marketing campaigns
  • Be a champion on A/B and other testing methodology for assigned campaigns
  • Participate in project brainstorms for test new ideas on an ongoing basis
  • Keep testing and learning consistently
  • Collaborate across team on promotions, consumer outreach, and site merchandising to support brand and sales goals
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and brand consistency in communications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing Communications or related field, or equivalent related experience
  • 2-4 years experience in Marketing with at least 2 years of email marketing experience

Core Competencies

  • HTML and Dreamweaver (or similar) experience required
  • Experience working with large ESPs. (Silverpop, Unica or other IBM marketing tools a plus)
  • Experience developing fully adaptive HTML email campaigns that work across major email clients and devices
  • Some understanding of direct-response marketing and database management
  • Proficiency in at least one web analytics tool, preferably Google Analytics
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Project management skills
  • Experience creating, deploying and managing effective email marketing campaigns.
  • Photoshop experience a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of underlying Internet technologies that support eCommerce; hands-on technical experience a definite plus!
  • Proactive strategic problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment and to adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to prioritize, self-manage, and seek help when necessary
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams ranging from product marketing to sales, product development and customer service.
